Microphone or camera isn't working in AviNat
AviNat needs microphone access for calls and voice messages, and camera access for video calls and taking photos. If the other person can't hear or see you, or AviNat asks you to allow access, you can turn these on in your iPhone's Settings.
Try this
- Turn on access for AviNat. Open the iPhone Settings app, scroll down and tap AviNat (on newer iOS versions, tap Apps first, then AviNat). Turn on Microphone, and turn on Camera for video calls.
- Use the button in AviNat. If a call shows "Allow microphone access for AviNat in Settings to make calls." or "Allow camera access for AviNat in Settings for video calls.", tap the button it shows to go straight to AviNat's settings.
- Check Screen Time limits. If the switches are grey, open iPhone Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions and allow changes to Microphone and Camera, or ask whoever manages Screen Time on your iPhone.
- Check you are not muted. In a call, look at the Mute button. If it is on, tap it to unmute.
- Close other apps using the microphone or camera, such as another calling app or the Camera app, then try again.
- Check the audio route. If you use Bluetooth earphones or a car system, make sure the sound is going where you expect. Try the call again with them disconnected.
- Restart AviNat. Swipe AviNat away from the app switcher and open it again, then start a new call.
Still not working?
Reply in your report thread (You > Help > My reports) and tell us:
- whether the problem is the microphone, the camera, or both
- whether it happens in calls, voice messages or photos
- your iPhone model and iOS version
A person from our team will follow up. You can also write to [email protected].
Good to know
- AviNat uses the microphone only when you record a voice message or are unmuted in a call, and the camera only when you take a photo or video or turn on video in a call.
- iOS shows an orange dot at the top of the screen while the microphone is in use, and a green dot while the camera is in use.
- You can turn microphone or camera access off again at any time in iPhone Settings. Calls need the microphone to work.
