AviNat Community Guidelines
Last updated: October 13, 2026
If a translation of these guidelines differs from the English version, the English version governs.
AviNat is for staying close to the people you care about. These Community Guidelines explain what is not allowed on AviNat, how we enforce these rules, and how you can report a problem or appeal a decision. They are part of our Terms of Use, and they apply to everyone who uses AviNat.
1. Where these guidelines apply
- Channels, including channel names, descriptions, photos, posts and comments.
- Profile posts and stories, their comments, and the profile information you make visible to others (your name, username, About and profile photo).
- Private chats and calls, as explained in section 3.
The law applies everywhere. Content that is legal where you live may still break these guidelines.
2. What is not allowed
Do not post, share or send any of the following:
- Violence and threats. Threats to hurt anyone; content that encourages, glorifies or organises violence or terrorism; graphic violence shared to shock.
- Hate. Content that attacks or dehumanises people for who they are, for example their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, disability, sex, gender, gender identity or sexual orientation.
- Sexual content and nudity. Nudity and sexual content are not allowed in channels or in profile posts and stories. Never share sexual or intimate images of anyone without their consent, and never threaten to.
- Child sexual abuse and exploitation. We have zero tolerance. Any content that sexually exploits or endangers children, including drawn or generated images, and any attempt to groom a child, leads to an immediate ban. We report it to the authorities, including the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) where US law requires it. Do not share or save such content, even to report it.
- Self-harm. Content that encourages or instructs suicide, self-harm or eating disorders. Talking about your own experience, or about recovery, is welcome.
- Harassment and bullying. Insulting, shaming, intimidating or targeting a person, sending unwanted contact after they have asked you to stop, or encouraging others to do any of this.
- Scams and fraud. Phishing, fake investments or giveaways, requests for sign-in codes, payment fraud, or anything designed to trick people out of money, accounts or personal information.
- Illegal goods and services. Selling, buying or promoting illegal drugs, weapons, explosives, stolen goods, counterfeit products, forged documents, or other goods and services that are illegal where they are offered.
- Personal data. Sharing someone's private information without their permission, such as a phone number, home address, identity document, financial details or private images.
- Impersonation. Pretending to be another person, organisation or AviNat, or using a name, photo or channel that misleads people about who you are.
- Spam. Bulk, automated or repetitive messages, posts or comments; unsolicited advertising; misleading links; fake engagement; or creating accounts or channels to get around a restriction.
- Copyright and other rights. Sharing content you do not have the right to share, such as copied films, music, books, software or other people's photos, or using someone else's trademark in a misleading way.
Channel owners and admins are responsible for what is posted in their channels and must remove content that breaks these guidelines.
3. Private chats and calls
Your messages and normal voice and video calls are end-to-end encrypted. We cannot read or listen to them, and we do not scan them. These guidelines still apply to how you use private chats: for example, using chats to harass, threaten, scam or spam people, or to share child sexual abuse material, is not allowed.
When you report a person or a chat, we review what the report includes: the reason you chose and information about the accounts involved. When you report a person from a private chat (a 1:1 chat or a group), your report can include the last 5 messages that person sent in that chat; your own messages and anyone else's are never included. When you report a single message (long-press it, then tap Report), your report can include that one message. You can only report a message someone else sent. When you report a group, it can include the group's last 5 messages. Photos and videos in those messages can be included too; voice messages and files are never sent, only a note of their type. This option is ticked by default, and you can untick it to send the report without them. Only messages already on your device, from the chat you report, are included, with the sender and the time. Nothing else from the chat is sent, and no one you report is notified. Otherwise, we cannot read your private chats. We can act on the reported account, for example by restricting or banning it, even though we cannot see the rest of the conversation. Messages, photos and videos included in a report are seen only by the AviNat staff who review reports, are kept encrypted, and are deleted when the report is closed, except where the law requires us to keep them (for example, child sexual abuse material, which we report to the authorities).
4. How we enforce these guidelines
We review reports as soon as they arrive, with automated checks first and a person from our team as backup, normally within 24 hours. Automated checks may also review channel and profile content that has not been reported. Depending on how serious the problem is, we may:
- Hide content. Hidden content is no longer shown to others. You still see your own hidden post or comment, with a notice that it was hidden for violating our rules (in a channel, its admins see it too). You can delete it or appeal.
- Remove content that breaks these guidelines or the law.
- Restrict an account, for example by limiting features or suspending the account for a period of time.
- Ban an account for serious or repeated violations. Child sexual abuse and exploitation always leads to a ban.
- Remove a channel that is used mainly to break these guidelines.
- Preserve information and work with the authorities where the law requires it, or where someone's safety is at risk.
We may act on content or behaviour outside AviNat when it puts people on AviNat at risk. People who report are told when we have reviewed their report. We do not tell the reported person who reported them.
5. Appeals
If you think we made a mistake, you can ask us to look again:
- Hidden post or comment: tap Appeal on the notice under it and tell us why it should be restored.
- Suspended or banned account: tap Contact support on the screen that shows the restriction, or email [email protected] from any device.
A person from our team reviews every appeal. If we find that the content or account did not break these guidelines, we restore it. We'll reply as soon as we can, and always within 24 hours.
6. How to report
- A channel, post or comment: open its menu and tap Report, then choose a reason. Reports go to AviNat, not to the channel's admins.
- A profile post or story: open its menu and tap Report.
- A person or a chat: open their profile or the chat's info and tap Report or Report and block.
- Anything else: in the app, go to You > Help > Report a problem, or email [email protected].
You can also block anyone at any time. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local police or emergency services first. AviNat cannot contact emergency services for you.
7. Changes
We may update these guidelines as AviNat and the law change. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
